Key Responsibilities
The Pipe and Precast laborer is expected to perform all essential responsibilities and duties in a manner that ensures a safe and healthful working environment for him/herself as well as those he/she will work around on a daily basis in accordance with all company policies and procedures, including hose outlined in the company Safety & health manual and the Progressive Discipline and Counseling policy.
Responsibilities:
Reinforced Pipe and Precast Products Fabrication
- Fabricate and tie wire reinforcement cages.
- Place and secure wire reinforcement in various pipe forms
- Clean, prepare, and stage reinforced pipe and panel molds for use as required in production.
- Place and finish plastic components into various pipe and precast forms.
- Remove forms from hardened concrete and assist in storing hardened concrete products as required.
- Perform quality control checks, inspecting precast products for defects or imperfections, and making necessary repairs or adjustments as directed.
- Follow established schedules and production targets to ensure timely completion of manufacturing tasks.
- Safely operate a on and off-road forklift.
- Safely operate an overhead crane.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the manufacturing area, shops, breakroom, restrooms, and general facilities cleanup.
- Maintain cleaning of equipment and tools.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, reporting any incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth production processes and resolve any issues or concerns.
- Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge in precast concrete manufacturing techniques.
- Assist with other reasonable tasks as instructed by the Pipe and Precast Foreman/Division Manager.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of the Pipe and Precast laborer position are essential to the performance of this job. Any changes in these demands would fundamentally change the job. The physical demands require that the Pipe and Precast laborer be able to do the following:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time often on wet, slick, and or uneven terrain or surfaces and in low-light conditions.
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and /or toting up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, push/pull, climb, kneel, and twist.
- Must be able work both inside and outside, in the heat and cold, and around moving equipment.
Restrictions:
- Must be able to manipulate all equipment controls safely and accurately by pushing, pulling, squeezing and turning levers, knobs, buttons and wheels.
- must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Must be able to understand verbal commands.
- Must be able to use various power tools and equipment in a safe manner to perform job functions. These include but are not limited to broom, mop, pick, shovel, sledgehammer, rubber hammer, electric chipping hammer, air hammer, and other various hand and power tools as needed.
- Must be dependable, professional and work well with fellow employees.
- Must possess a positive attitude, have a high level of determination to successfully complete tasks and assignments.
- Must be a self-starter and motivated to learn.
- Must be able to pass a non-DOT pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including Saturdays as required.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in precast concrete manufacturing or a similar field is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Basic understanding of construction and concrete materials is advantageous.
- Knowledge of safe working practices and ability to follow instructions and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with coworkers.
- Previous experience with a sit-down Deisel forklift and/or overhead crane is preferred but not required.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow.
