Position Summary
The Inside Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring upholstery quality standards are met before each piece moves to the Trim department. This role inspects upholstered furniture immediately following the upholstery process, verifying that craftsmanship, fabric application, pattern alignment, seam quality, and overall construction meet Design Foundry specifications. The Inside Inspector partners closely with Upholstery Leads, Quality, and Trim to identify and correct issues early in the process, maintaining production flow and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect each upholstered piece immediately after upholstery and before it enters Trim.
- Verify all workmanship meets Design Foundry quality standards, including fabric alignment, welt application, tufting, seams, and overall appearance.
- Confirm that the correct fabric, pattern direction, and model specifications match the production ticket.
- Tag or flag any quality issues, documenting findings in inspection logs.
- Communicate defects or deviations directly to the Upholstery Lead or Supervisor for correction.
- Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on recurring issues or opportunities to improve quality.
- Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and ensure all safety standards are followed.
- Participate in quality huddles and team meetings to review performance and drive improvements.
- Assist with Go/No-Go reviews and final inspection training as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in upholstered furniture manufacturing preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
- Knowledge of upholstery construction, fabrics, and quality standards.
- Ability to identify and communicate defects clearly and professionally.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improvement.
- Team-oriented with a focus on collaboration and accountability.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Ability to visually inspect fine details and distinguish colors and patterns accurately.
