Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Pipe Layers to join our Utilities and Civil Construction team. This position is responsible for the layout and installation of wet and dry utility systems, including water lines, storm drains, sanitary sewer lines, manholes, and conduit. Pipe Layers will work in a variety of environments—from municipal utility projects to heavy civil and industrial sites—ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency in every installation.
Responsibilities
- Lay out pipe routes and install utility systems following blueprints, plans, and written instructions.
- Accurately set and maintain pipe grades, slopes, and alignments using lasers, levels, and survey instrumentation.
- Work safely in deep excavations, with proper use of shoring, trench boxes, and trench safety practices.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, demo saws, shoring, and compaction equipment.
- Work in and around open trenches, heavy equipment, and areas with vehicle/pedestrian traffic.
- Follow all OSHA, local regulations, and company safety policies at all times.
- Collaborate with crews and supervisors to meet deadlines and project requirements.
- Maintain professionalism, attention to detail, and accountability on every project.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience installing water, sewer, or underground utilities.
- Strong knowledge of trench safety, shoring, and grade control.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and survey markings.
- Skilled in using lasers, levels, and survey tools to ensure accurate installation.
- Physically able to work outdoors in varying conditions, lift 75 pounds, and perform tasks requiring climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Safety-sensitive position; must meet all company and OSHA requirements.
- High degree of professionalism, dependability, and teamwork.
- Ability to obtain security clearance and jobsite badging if required.
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 10/30, Trench Safety, Competent Person.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Full-time, minimum 40–50 hours per week; overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.).
