What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist position at Desert Oasis Healthcare?
Performs clerical support services as a Receptionist within the Immediate Care Department in an accurate and effective manner to facilitate departmental efficiency.
- Professional Duties- Greets and checks in patients in the reception area in a timely manner.
- - Distinguishes between HMO, worker compensation cases, PPO/EPO, and other accounts.
- - Effectively works with providers and co-workers.
- - Receives records and processes all patient co-payments.
- - Answers telephones in a professional manner.
- - Obtains information from the patient as directed by policies and procedures.
- - Determines the type of patient insurance and verifies coverage, deductible information and co-payment via the authorization, E-Z cap, internet or by calling the health plan.
- - Enters patient demographics and Health Plan information into NextGen properly with less a 2% error rate.
- - Monitors patient flow and traffic in the reception area and notifies the nurse if intervention is needed.
- - Maintains orderliness of the waiting room and work station.
- - Maintains and orders office supplies within budget parameters as directed by the Immediate Care Nursing Clinical Manager.
- - Consistently and accurately balances the prior day using the charge tickets against the cash journal.
- - Forwards to the Billing Department on a daily basis: charge tickets, cash, cash sheets and the activity sheets.
- - Closes out the journal, counts the cash drawer, prepares cash balance log and makes the deposit each shift.
- - Other duties as assigned.

- Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- - Minimum of 2 years experience in a health care setting preferred.
- - Medical terminology required.
- - Strong customer service and computer skills.

- - Able to work independently.
- - Current California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance required.
