Position Overview
The Junior Varsity Volleyball Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing the high school athletic program, cultivating a competitive environment where student athletes excel on the field and in life. This role requires strong leadership, program management, and the ability to mentor athletes and assistant coaches while maintaining alignment with Desert Heights’ mission and athletic values.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead all varsity-level practices, games, and conditioning sessions.
- Foster a culture of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Mentor assistant coaches and oversee program development.
- Monitor academic progress and ensure AIA eligibility compliance.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and school leadership.
- Represent DHPA athletics in competitions, community events, and media.
- Manage program logistics including scheduling, equipment, and communication.
Qualifications
- Prior varsity or collegiate-level coaching experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the sport, AIA rules, and competition standards.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire student athletes.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
- Fingerprint clearance card (required).
