Job Title: Social and Emotional Learning Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Coordinator leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district’s social and emotional learning framework to strengthen student well-being, belonging, and positive school climate. This role works across district departments and with school leadership teams to ensure SEL priorities are aligned with instructional practices, student support systems, and school improvement efforts. The coordinator partners with principals, instructional leaders, and educators to support effective implementation of SEL practices through professional learning, leadership coaching, and data-informed continuous improvement across schools.  The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district’s social and emotional learning (SEL) framework aligned with district strategic priorities.
  2. Collaborate with district departments and school leaders to ensure SEL initiatives are aligned with instructional priorities, student support systems, and school improvement efforts.
  3. Partner with principals and school leadership teams to support effective implementation of SEL practices within instruction, school climate systems, and student supports.
  4. Provide coaching and consultation to principals, instructional coaches, counselors, and educators to build capacity for effective SEL implementation.
  5. Design and facilitate high-quality professional learning that strengthens educators’ ability to integrate social and emotional learning into classroom instruction and school culture.
  6. Conduct regular school and classroom visits to support implementation, observe learning environments, and provide feedback to school leaders.
  7. Collect, analyze, and interpret SEL-related data (e.g., climate surveys, implementation data) to guide decision-making and continuous improvement.
  8. Lead the development, adaptation, and implementation of SEL curriculum resources aligned with district priorities and research-based frameworks.
  9. Serve as a visible and responsive resource to schools, coordinating internal and external partnerships that support student well-being and positive school climate.
  10. Support schools in implementing SEL initiatives through continuous improvement cycles that include goal setting, implementation monitoring, and reflection on impact.
  11. Maintain professional learning and growth through professional organizations, seminars, course work, and collaboration.
  12. Other duties, as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work or related field
  • Work Experience: Three years of experience leading the implementation of school or district initiatives
  • Licensure or Certification: N/A

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of social and emotional learning competencies, frameworks, and research-based practices.
  2. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups, including?colleagues,?employees, and external partners.
  3. Experience designing and delivering adult professional learning. 
  4. Effective written and oral communication and presentation techniques. 
  5. Data informed decision making and analytical skills.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks and determine proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  7. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  8. Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals.
  9. Ability to coach and motivate others.
  10. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  11. Maintain valid driver's license with a driving record that aligns with the district’s motor vehicle record requirement while employed.  
  12. Maintain confidentiality. 
  13. Attendwork on a prompt and regular basis.
  14. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees
