Summary:
Responsible for operating forklifts in food grade warehouse to load/unload trailers, move, store, and count merchandise, ensuring safety, security, productivity, and food safety standards, document properly. Must have forklift experience be able to lift occasionally 50 -60 lbs. Pass CRT (stress test) and physical and drug test. Pass background check for 7 years. Must be able to bend, stoop, and get on and off forklift.
Key Responsibilities:
Picks orders and prepares for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is ready for shipment.
Properly loads and unloads shipments, ensuring accuracy.
Locate and re-locate merchandise for optimal space and efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and shipments.
Operates warehouse equipment in a safe and efficient manner to eliminate personal injuries, merchandise damage, and damage to the warehouse.
Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, attachments, and tools and report any maintenance issues.
Assist in warehouse cleanliness, sanitation, pest control, and food safety practices.
Communicate effectively to other warehouse staff and supervisors
Qualifications:
Prior forklift operation experience and must have longevity on job history
Attention to detail and inventory accuracy.
Basic math and PC skills.
Ability to maintain focus and solve space utilization problems.
Effective communication and physically able to handle duties of job as described.
Work Environment:
Dusty, humid warehouse with temperature ranges from 40-90°F; possible odors and soy and wheat food allergens present.
Additional Tasks:
* Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
* Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, or boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
* Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
* Signal workers to discharge, dump, or level materials.
* Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags or labels.
* Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
* Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
* Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
* Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
* Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
* Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
* Deliver or route materials to departments using handtruck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
* Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
* Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
* Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list.
* Compare shipping routes or methods to determine which have the least environmental impact.
