Role Overview
The Revenue Cycle Manager for Ancillary Services, Reference Lab, Med Spa & Plastics is responsible for day-to-day management of billing, collections, and reconciliation for reference lab/pathology services, med spa transactions, and plastic surgery procedures. This role ensures accurate charge capture, compliant coding, clean claims, and timely resolution of denials, while partnering closely with operations, the CBO, and finance.
Key Responsibilities
The Revenue Cycle Manager for Ancillary Services, Reference Lab, Med Spa & Plastics is responsible for day-to-day management of billing, collections, and reconciliation for reference lab/pathology services, med spa transactions, and plastic surgery procedures. This role ensures accurate charge capture, compliant coding, clean claims, and timely resolution of denials, while partnering closely with operations, the CBO, and finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Reference Lab / Pathology Billing and Collections
- Oversee end-to-end reference lab billing and collections.
- Resolve documentation gaps with lab staff and CBO.
- Monitor unpaid invoices and work to prevent any late payments
- Med Spa & Cash-Pay Services
- Manage revenue cycle for med spa services, packages, memberships, and retail.
- Ensure accurate POS posting, package redemptions, and alignment with PM/EHR.
- Partner with front office and med spa leadership on price transparency and TOS collections.
- Support reconciliation of daily/weekly/monthly med spa revenue with bank statement and finance.
- Plastics / Surgical
- Oversee authorizations, estimates, and billing for cosmetic and medically necessary plastics cases.
- Ensure complete and timely documentation and charge capture (professional, facility, implants, supplies).
- Monitor denial trends (auth, medical necessity, coverage) and manage appeals.
- Revenue Integrity, Reporting & Leadership.
- Perform periodic audits of charges, adjustments, and write-offs; address findings.
- Lead and develop a small team of billing/posting staff; serve as escalation point for complex issues.
- Track and report core KPIs (Charge lag, collections, unapplied cash) for these service lines.
Qualifications
Core Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 5 years of revenue cycle or billing experience, with 2 years in a lead/manager role.
- Experience with dermatology, plastics, med spa/aesthetics, or pathology/reference labs strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and payer rules for both medical and cosmetic services.
- Proficiency with EHR/PM systems, payer portals, clearinghouses, and Excel/reporting tools.
