Reports To: Practice Administrator or HR Director
Position Summary
The Human Resources Specialist will support all core HR functions for an established dermatology practice with 50 employees, including recruiting, onboarding, compliance, performance management, and employee relations. This individual will ensure the practice maintains compliance with state and federal labor laws, supports a positive work culture, and contributes to effective workforce planning and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and Alabama employment laws.
- Manage job postings, applicant screening, and interview scheduling for clinical and administrative positions.
- Ensure proper documentation for I-9 and E-Verify compliance.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation processes.
- Oversee employee files, certifications, and policy acknowledgments in accordance with HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Coordinate onboarding and recurring training related to OSHA, HIPAA, and clinical policies.
- Facilitate regular communication regarding policies, updates, and HR-related announcements.
- Support performance review cycles, goal-setting processes, and disciplinary actions in coordination with supervisors.
- Serve as point of contact for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
- Support leadership in fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
- Partner with payroll administrator to ensure accurate PTO management, and wage adjustments.
- Review payroll reports for accuracy and assist with correcting discrepancies.
- Assist in annual open enrollment processes and educate employees on eligibility.
- Coordinate with brokers or vendors as needed.
Required Competencies & Skills
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR practices, and regulatory compliance at the federal and state levels.
- Familiarity with healthcare delivery environments (clinical & administrative roles).
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational efficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in an HR generalist or specialist role (healthcare industry preferred).
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred but not required.
