Dermatology, P.C. is seeking a Clinical Assistant (CMA - Certified Medical Assistant) to join our team! Dermatology, P.C. is a fast-paced private practice, seeking an energetic team player who enjoys a challenge.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Essential Duties:
- Ascertains pertinent medical history information.
- Assists physicians as directed in patient examination and/or treatment.
- Participates in patient education. Communicates effectively and validates patient understanding.
- Charts all patient activity in a complete, accurate, clear, and timely manner.
- Sets up surgical or procedure trays as needed and assists with the procedure.
- Takes or returns calls from patients, pharmacies and/or referring medical office personnel.
- Demonstrates ability to consistently meet the practice work schedule: Monday – Thursday 7:45a – 5:00p and Friday 7:45a – 2:00p. Will travel to our satellite clinics in Ankeny and/or Indianola.
- Records and maintains laboratory/pathology data in EHR. Makes calls to patients when appropriate. Follows through on result.
- Knowledgeable of all procedures in office. Able to explain to patients.
- Demonstrates excellence in communication, decision making, and problem solving by acting as a role model and resource, positively influencing job satisfaction, in-office relationships, and patient care.
- Maintains awareness of workload of co-workers and helps as appropriate.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Qualifications:
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant from formal medical assistant program
- Current CPR and Mandatory Reporter certifications
- Previous Medical Assistant preferred
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read and write legibly and understand/follow written and verbal directions.
- Manual dexterity required for preparing for and administering patient care.
- Auditory acuity required for receiving verbal communications from patients and physicians.
- Ability to work under stress, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and keep track of details.
- Must possess good judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Must be a self-starter with high levels of initiative.
