As a Medical Assistant each student has the opportunity to develop strong interpersonal skills in patient care by coordinating care, interviewing, scribing, and assisting in basic procedures. An excellent clinical-based experience, students gain a well-rounded understanding of the health care system by working with providers who deliver high-quality patient care, learning the importance of clerical tasks, and attending educational events such as lectures and conferences. The private practice encourages students to create strong mentoring relationships with providers, who are motivated to assist students through the medical school process and teach them about patient care and serve as mentors through their graduate school admissions process and beyond.
We do require commitment for 12, 24, or 36 months. We recognize that graduate school admissions occur on a rolling basis; however, given the amount of training involved in the program, we do require at least 2-3 months notice which provides time for recruitment and cross training of new employees. Please note, students are encouraged to apply for the length of program which they feel is a reasonable and accurate amount of time they can commit to the program. Duration of training for each participant will be re-evaluated January 1st of each year. The program represents a significant commitment of 40-50 hours per week.
