DEPT OF HEALTH SERVICES

The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) provides inpatient psychiatric care to persons with serious mental illness who need long-term behavioral health care. ASH promotes hope and wellness for our patients and creates opportunities to participate in planning, delivering and evaluating services that assist with recovery. Treatment is individualized with goals that focus on education about an illness, instilling hope and improving one's overall quality of life. The Arizona State Hospital has a wide range of positions available, from our direct care staff, Nurses and Behavioral Health Technicians to Social Workers, Rehabilitation Specialist and Security to name a few. The Arizona State Hospital also offers 12 hour shifts for our Direct Care staff as well as some alternative work schedules, flexible hours for non-direct care staff. We offer a robust benefit package, including the ADHS Student Loan Assistance Program where eligible employees can receive up to $437.50 per month for their outstanding student loans. Job Summary:

Provides individual and group therapy to patients in a strength based, recovery oriented environment, utilizing "best practices" while ensuring all documentation is timely and meets all agency and regulatory body requirements. Serves as consultant to treatment teams to identified patients.

Job Duties:

- Provides direct individual therapy and group therapy to identified patients, and ensures proper documentation is completed timely and submitted according to agency and licensing standards.
- Assist in on-unit programming, training and development.
- Communicates in a timely manner and attends all necessary meetings and conferences for increased patient recovery and to facilitate interdisciplinary communication leading to effective treatment and discharge.
- Meets with treatment teams and provides consultation, contributes to patient treatment plans.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Psychotherapeutic practices; mental health principles;
- Interpersonal and recovery principles;
- Behavior management and an understanding of mental health assessments and psychiatric diagnoses as derived from the DSM 5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders);
- Rules and expectations of internal and external auditing bodies;
- Behavioral health treatment programs and protocols;
- Recovery oriented and culturally competent treatment interventions for a wide variety of psychiatric disorders for a diverse population;
- Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.

Skill In:
- Various therapies for the seriously mentally ill;
- Group and individual mental health interventions;
- Oral and written communication;
- Psychiatric case conceptualization and psychiatric assessment

Ability to:
- Learn Arizona State Hospital (ASH) policies and procedures and patient rights;

Selective Preference(s):

Preferred candidate will have 4 years in inpatient psychiatric experience in developing treatment plans, experience applying and utilizing a variety of psycho-therapeutic strategies, and possess an independent license through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LPC, LIAC, LCSW).

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Candidate must possess a Master's Degree in a Behavioral Health related field and possess a current Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) Associate license, or obtain Associate licensure within 6 months to 1 year of hiring through the State of Arizona as a LAC, LASAC or LMSW. Once associate licensed, candidate must participate in ongoing clinical supervision to consistently work towards achievement of independent licensure in no less that 2 years post associate licensed.

Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR and NVCI certification.

A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-1758.07

Retirement:

To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will make a contribution to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27 week wait period for contributions to begin.
