KDHE is comprised of three divisions: Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance (which includes the State’s Medicaid program, KanCare). We are the only agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof which allows us to take a holistic approach to improving and protecting the health and well-being of all Kansans.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:    

The position (K0239159)

Identifying and analyzing business needs, conducting requirements gathering, and defining scope and objectives for the IT System. Developing programming specifications, diagrams, and flowcharts. Writing code programming languages to optimize the performance and efficiency of an organization’s IT platform/infrastructure.

Configuring, customizing, diagnosing, and enhancing vendor systems software (e.g., operating systems software and utilities that manage access to peripherals, facilitate networking, manage memory allocation, manage file storage on hard drives, etc.).

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: 

Qualifications

• Education:  
  • High School, GED
• Licensing & Certification:
  • Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
• Minimum Qualifications:  
  • High School Diploma/ GED or completion of a technical school program in information technology or a relevant field.
  • Experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs.
  • Must be able to transform software designs into code using relevant programming languages and have knowledge of commonly used databases. 
  • C#, VB, VB .Net HTML, VBScript, JavaScript
  • SQL and Oracle database
  • VBA,JSON,AJAX,JAVA,JQUERY, JavaScript
  • GitHub Experience
  • JSON, XML.       
• Preferred Qualifications:  
  • Associates Degree or two years of equivalent relevant experience in Information Technology and/or Computer Information Systems
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail

  • Work experience in information technology plus 2 to 3 yrs of work experience as an IT programmer
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Certification of programming languages
