Compensation: $ 58,471.88 annually. Salary may be dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The Child Protection Supervisor is to support decision-making in child protective assessment cases that have been determined to be safe and eligible for successful closure. This role is vital to ensure consistent, timely, and high-quality consultation across the region, promoting child safety, well-being, and family integrity through the effective application of policy and practice standards. Child Protection Supervisors have in-depth understanding of the safety and risk assessments used by Child Protection Specialist for decision-making. The Child Protection Supervisor works independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications
Education: *If a degree is required, a copy of a candidate’s transcript showing proof must be sent to your recruiter following the interview * Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, health sciences or related field as determined relevant by the agency and two (2) years of field experience with a child welfare agency, childcare institution or agency performing human services or health sciences functions.
Minimum Qualifications: *If a driver’s license is required, a copy must be sent to your recruiter following the interview.* Valid Driver’s License (must maintain valid driver’s license throughout employment).
License to practice social work in the State of Kansas at the time of hire and one year of experience as a social worker.
Preferred Qualifications: Licensed Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) professional as determined relevant by the agency. One or more of the following: Licensed Social Worker, master’s in professional counseling (Licensed Professional Counselor) Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).

Security Clearance: A background check (KBI - criminal background, welfare fraud, driver's license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF. Must maintain security clearance throughout employment.
Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas. Applicants (including non-residents) who receive a formal job offer for a State job, are required to obtain a valid Tax Clearance within ten (10) days of the job offer. A Tax Clearance can be obtained through the Kansas Department of Revenue who reviews individual accounts for compliance with Kansas Tax Law.

Provides overall Protection Specialist and Investigator from various units guidance for cases assigned, assigns specific case tasks to Protection Specialists, Investigators, Family Support Coordinators, and Human Service Assistants. Provides guidance in assessing, designing and delivering services to meet the needs of families and children. Monitors case outcomes to ensure that agency objectives for safety, family preservation, and/or permanency are met. Clearly documents decision points and next steps from guidance in agency systems
Oversees identification and implementation of policy and procedure. Provides input in formulating policies and procedures. Translates this to employees work and assigns tasks in order to maintain the efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness of the delivery of services for the operations of each unit, identify needs and trends as well as maintain compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations and policies. Monitors effectiveness of program operations, training and direct changes and improvements as necessary. Attend and participate in mandatory training for the agency and PPS Division.
Implements procedures to assure that unit work is accomplished in accordance with state/local policy and procedures. Monitors workflow with DCF Administration outcomes and expectations. Develops unit procedures to ensure that response times, records, reports, eligibility determination, and data reporting are timely and accurate. Ensures that case assessments and plans are being made appropriately and timely and that services are being delivered.
Participates in hiring, coaching, and training of staff. Identifies training needs and plans to ensure staff have the required training necessary to carry out their jobs in accordance with PPS policy and procedure. Set and communicate expectations regarding performance, behavior, attitude and conduct that are measurable, understandable, verifiable and reasonable. In conjunction with the Program Administrator and Personnel Services, addresses poor performance or behavior and addresses issues in a prompt manner according to personnel rules and regulations
Coordinates work with other DCF units, programs, contracting agencies, and other services agencies. Assures effective working relationships will all DCF staff and community stake holders and partners. Participates (as assigned) as part of the management's area administrative team, coordinates work with county/district attorney. Plans, schedules, and holds cases conferences with other disciplines for case planning and review. Participates in educating and providing information to the community regarding Department for Children and Family policies and procedures.
