- Provides direct physical therapy services under the direction of a qualified Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician’s plan of care, as defined by the state Physical Therapy Practice Act.
- Treats patients to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
- Assists patients with active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
- Utilizes physical agents including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
- Observes and reports patient responses to treatment and any changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist and appropriate organization personnel.
- Instructs patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Maintains timely and accurate clinical documentation, including clinical and conference notes, in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Participates in Home Care Team meetings and in-service education programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program with an Associate’s degree in science or applied science approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
- Current state certification or license as required by law.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Licensed driver with a reliable, insured automobile in accordance with organization requirements.
