Established in 1995, DePAW Pet Resort provides exceptional services for dogs, cats, and small mammals. We are a community of pet lovers with shared interests and values. Our services include boarding, daycare, grooming, and training. We're looking for dedicated pet lovers to join us as a Pet Technician. Performing dog daycare attendant and kennel attendant tasks. It is a role with many different responsibilities.
We are members of the International Boarding & Pet Services Association, the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the ASPCA, and the Better Business Bureau. Our facility has a combined 24,000 square feet of space dedicated to the health and enrichment of our animals. Our team is First Aid and CPR Certified, and our management team has over 60 years of professional experience in the industry.
Job Overview: Pet Technician
- Full-time position with competitive wages ($15.00 - $18.75 per hour) and bonus opportunities.
- Full-time employees (33 hours/week) are eligible for benefits like PTO, sick pay, health insurance, employer-paid dental and vision insurance, employee discounts, and a 401k program.
- Our modern location in Geneva, IL, has indoor and outdoor spaces. Staff will be expected to work in all four seasons.
Expectations:
- Ensure the well-being and safety of pets in daycare and boarding areas.
- Supervise and engage in activities with groups of dogs, including walking, agility, and obedience games.
- Walk dogs on lead to and from play and exercise areas.
- Monitor and manage canine interactions; resolve conflicts as needed.
- Administer food, water, and medications, ensuring proper care.
- Maintain clean and sanitary conditions by following cleaning protocols.
- Monitor pet health, chart progress, and report any concerns.
- Communicate effectively with management, co-workers, and clients.
- Perform facility maintenance tasks, like snow and trash removal.
- Pet, staff, and guest safety is our number one priority.
- Handle dogs of all breeds and sizes; be ready for physical activities such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Comfortable with loud indoor and outdoor environments.
Skills:
- Confident in dog handling and reading body language.
- Excellent troubleshooting, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude, high energy, and professionalism.
- We seek team players but also appreciate candidates who can comfortably work without direct supervision.
- No prior professional or volunteer experience with animals is necessary, but every candidate must have a passion for animals and their welfare.
