Conditions of employment

- Minimum Education Requirement: A minimum of a Master's degree in the field of Education is required. Graduate or undergraduate course work must include a minimum of 24 semester hours of education technology, specific to instructional technology. Such courses include instructional design, online or distance learning, integration of technology into curriculum including assistive technology, assessment and planning for technology, professional learning and development and technology leadership in education. No more than 9 semester hours will be accepted in content areas such as STEM education, emerging technologies in education, augmented or virtual reality in education, artificial intelligence (AI), digital media and design, video communications, or media and gaming design.
- Specialized Experience Requirement (5 years): Specialized experience is experience gained in teaching, educational research, development of educational materials and aids, educational testing, educational administration, or comparable activities in an elementary and/or secondary school, which has clearly demonstrated success in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of education and familiarity with current developments in PreK-12th grade education and training. This experience must include a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of PreK-12 Educational Technology, in either a formal or informal role.
- Professional Licensure Requirement: None. A current and valid, unencumbered professional teaching licenses in Education Technology from any U.S. state, territory, or the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) will be considered to have met the education content specific requirements.

- The work may be evaluated and interpreted by the International Education Research Foundation, Inc., Credential Evaluation Service, Post Office Box 3665, Culver City, CA 90231-3665 or www.ierf.org/ or 310-258-9451.
- The foreign institution that awarded the degree is on a list endorsed by a regionally accredited university or on a list endorsed by a state department of education for the purpose of teacher certification in that state (this procedure will require an English translation of the transcript and a copy of the document awarding the degree, together with an authenticated list produced by an American university or a state department of education); and
- The work may be evaluated by the graduate division of a regionally accredited university and declared the equivalent of similar undergraduate or graduate work in a U.S. institution.
