Crew Leader - Gas Division
The purpose of this classification is to lead an assigned crew of workers involved in installing, maintaining and repairing natural gas lines and related system components for the Gas Division of the Department of Public Utilities.

The purpose of this classification is to lead an assigned crew of workers involved in installing, maintaining and repairing natural gas lines and related system components for the Gas Division of the Department of Public Utilities.
Essential Functions
- Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers.
- Leads and participates in the installation, maintenance and repair of natural gas service lines and mains, and related system components.
- Receives and completes work orders.
- Performs related activities.
- Utilizes, operates and maintains various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments.
- Adheres to established safety procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Associate degree in closely related field preferred. Required: High School Diploma or GED supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in specific work area which includes on the job and formal training.
- Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response to call outs and emergencies.
- Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
- Must possess and maintain training and certifications as deemed necessary or required by regulation including certification under the Department of Public Utilities’ Operator Qualification Program in compliance with minimum pipeline safety regulations defined in 49 CFR Part 192, Subpart N.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the principles of pipefitting; broad knowledge of the operation of a gas pipeline/distribution system; and the ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications.
- Must be able to operate a computer and/or tablet to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, database, e-mail, or other software.
