MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) – ANGELES DISTRICT / TOPANGA SECTOR / WILL ROGERS STATE HISTORIC PARK
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”
The reporting location for this position is within the Topanga Sector at Will Rogers State Historic Park 1501 Will Rogers State Park Rd. Pacific Palisades, CA 90272 but the incumbent may also work at other park units within the Topanga Sector as needed. This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor and be led by the permanent maintenance staff.
The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to performing various housekeeping, groundskeeping, and minor maintenance tasks within park grounds and facilities. Responsibilities include operating light vehicles, accounting for supplies used, completing miscellaneous reports, answering questions of the public and explaining park rules and regulations. The Maintenance Aide will keep facilities clean and perform general unskilled maintenance to ensure public health and safety standards are maintained. Successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Park uniform to comply with Department standards.
This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible. Must be able to work holidays and weekends.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather. May have extensive exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. May work in remote locations on uneven ground. Typical work activities involve frequent periods of bending, stooping and lifting. Must be able to work holidays, evenings, and weekends. This position is a uniformed classification and is required to maintain an appearance conforming to Department standards.
