What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAFF SERVICES MANAGER I position at Department of Justice?
The Staff Services Manager (SSM) I is responsible for conducting, overseeing, and directing staff on the department's statewide learning and development training and staff development program. Under the general direction of the Office of Professional Develpoment's Statewide Professional Development Manager (SSM II), the SSM I supervises SSM I Specialists, analysts, and trainers. The SSM I will have oversight responsibility for staff providing training classes, desktop application training, class scheduling, team projects, and department-wide special projects. The SSM I will be part of a team of managers that will deliver leadership level courses to leaders and rank and file employees. The SSM I will promote and be accountable for customer satisfaction and quality service and will initiate or recommend changes that promote innovative solutions to meet departmental and customer needs. The SSM I will also be expected to work at a very high-level and in alignment with management's strategic vision.
Please note that all new to state employees will be given the minimum salary of the classification. For current state employees and/or those with reinstatement rights, your salary will be determined in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Working Conditions
This position has been designated as eligible for telework and is currently a remote centered position. The position will however require in-person attendance on a recurring basis. The selected candidate would report to Department of Justice headquarters in Los Angeles when required for job functions, in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office when required are the responsibility of the employee. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
