What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSOCIATE GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAM ANALYST position at Department of Justice?
The analyst independently prepares, processes and monitors the ACE court messengering/courier statewide contracts and invoices for the Office of the Attorney General/Department of Justice (DOJ). The analyst will be expected to analyze and reconcile invoice discrepancies for DOJ statewide locations (Oakland, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Diego). The analyst will serve as the main point of contact for the Legal Divisions and be responsible for providing a breakdown and explanation of costs for urgent court filing requests and other legal services. Duties require strong organizational skills, analytical ability, effective writing and communication skills, knowledge on the laws pertaining to contract law and state procedures for purchasing goods and services, and the ability to work under strict time constraints.
Analyst may be required to travel statewide.

- This position is located in the Division of Operations, Legal Support Operations, Sacramento.
- Please disregard the SROA/Surplus language below, as the Department of Justice requires applicants to submit their SROA/Surplus Letter if that is the basis of their eligibility.
- Please note that all new to state employees will be given the minimum salary of the classification. For current state employees and/or those with reinstatement rights, your salary will be determined in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Please note that the Staff Services Analyst classification contains multiple salary ranges. New-to-State employees will be given the minimum salary Range A, unless you meet Alternate Range Criteria 69 as follows:
- Range A. This range shall apply to those individuals who do not meet the criteria for Range B or Range C.
- Range B. This range shall apply to persons who have satisfactorily completed the equivalent to six months of Staff Services Analyst (Range A) or Staff Services Analyst, Fair Political Practices Commission (Range A), or Management Services Technician (Range B), and may apply to persons who have the equivalent of six months of satisfactory experience outside of State service performing analytical duties similar to those of a Staff Services Analyst.
- Range C. This range shall apply to persons who have graduated from a recognized four-year accredited college or university; or who satisfactorily completed the equivalent of 12 months of Staff Services Analyst (Range B) or Staff Services Analyst, Fair Political Practices Commission (Range B), experience; and may apply to persons who have the equivalent of 18 months of satisfactory experience outside the State service performing analytical duties similar to those of Staff Services Analyst.
