About this Role:

Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Benefits Division (PBD) Chief, the Pharmaceutical Program Consultant (PPC) serves as the consultant for the Medi-Cal fee-for-service pharmacy and Medi-Cal Rx programs' Enteral and Medical Supply Benefits Branch. Provides professional advice and guidance to the Department's executive staff and other agencies on matters relating to the scope and quality of pharmaceutical and medical supply benefits under the Medi-Cal program. Assists with coordinating and delegating responsibilities for maintaining efficient operations by facilitating timely and accurate Medi-Cal Rx secondary review of Prior Authorization (PA) and Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) adjudications; and consults with, advises and represents the Division and Section in matters pertaining to program policy and operations. The PPC interprets and evaluates federal and state legislation relating to the scope of pharmaceutical and medical supply benefits under the Medi-Cal program and serves as the supervising pharmacist for the Pharmaceutical Consultants and Associate Government Program Analysts, in the Enteral and Medical Supply Benefits Branch.
