About this Role:
The Auditor I is the entry and initial working level of the Health Program Auditor series. Provider Investigations is a team of multidisciplinary staff (auditors, medical and Investigative staff established to investigate Medi-Cal fraud, and to develop the basis for the successful prosecution of said fraud, in 13 diverse Medi-Cal program areas including: Drug Medi-Cal, Skilled Nursing Homes, Narcotic Treatment Providers, Adult Day Health Care, Mental Health, Home Health, Hospice, HIV and Antipsychotic Drugs,Transportation Operators, Pharmacies and Residential Care Facilities. Up to 15% of overnight travel may be necessary to complete audits or attend meetings and other activities, as directed by management.
The role on the Auditor I in the Audits & Investigations (A&I), Investigations Division (ID) conducts administrative and criminal investigations to address fraud, waste, and abuse in Medi-Cal and other DHCS programs. Specific activities include fraud data analytics, Medi-Cal fraud Hotline and complaint intake, investigative audits, provider fraud investigations, and beneficiary fraud investigations.
The Auditor I qualifies for a “Hire Above Minimum “(HAM) salary. The starting salary for the classification will be: $4,340
The Staff Services Management Auditor qualifies for a “Hire Above Minimum “(HAM) salary. The starting salary for the classification will be: $4,783
This position is subject to the Department's Conflict of Interest Code and filing a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) when assuming office, annually while in office, and upon leaving office.

Telework and Salary Information
The selected candidate will be assigned an available DHCS office closest to their residence prior to their start date. The selected candidate will be required to report to their assigned DHCS office and other DHCS locations as needed.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence, subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
