Summary of Work

We're not the IRS. We don't audit taxes or private businesses. We do however audit any state entity that receives taxpayer dollars. Our work impacts the programs and services you use every day. We check if taxpayer dollars are used correctly and if programs are doing things the right way.

What We're Looking For:

We know what you're thinking, there is no degree in "auditing" so what are you looking for? Thanks for asking, here's an idea of what you'll be doing:

• Provide objective analysis so audit clients can use the information to improve program performance.
• Use financial and other data to determine correct use of money, participant eligibility, and accurate reporting.
• Check if state agencies complied with federal and state law.
• Okay that was a lot of detailed bullets right there... bottom line? You audit (as your title implies) any state agency that receives taxpayer dollars. You'll check to make sure they're spending taxpayer dollars the right way, and that processes are being followed correctly.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related area from an appropriately accredited institution. Applicants who anticipate receiving their degree in December of 2026 are eligible to apply, the start date is flexible.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Used to working in Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Successful completion of reference, background, and criminal record checks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Have a professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA. (We know, it's a lot of "C" acronyms).
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Master's degree in accounting, business, finance, economics, information technology, or related area.
Have recent auditing or accounting experience.
