Summary

The mission of the Idaho Operations Office (ID) is to develop and deliver cost-effective solutions to both fundamental and advanced challenges in nuclear energy and other energy resources, national security, and environmental management. ID oversees operations conducted at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) site for the Department.

Duties

As a Security Officer, you will:

• Serve as the Site Chief Security Officer (CSO) and is personally accountable for any adverse security event in which it is determined, by the Secretary.
• Direct and oversees the Idaho Operations Office's Security Division, ensuring the administration, implementation, and maintenance of the Security Program.
• Manage a team of security specialists, including physical, personnel, and information security experts, overseeing their work and addressing personnel policy matters.
  
  Provide guidance for Security Program work, to ensure effective resource use, monitoring program costs and schedules, and coordinating efforts with entities.
• Establish and oversee Security Program evaluations, performance standards, and cost-effectiveness measures.

• New supervisors will be required to 80 hours of supervisory training, of which 40 must be completed during your first year as a supervisor.
• You are required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of entering the position and annually.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter.
• Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
• This position has been designated as Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and requires a security clearance at the Q clearance .
• The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain this clearance; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 OF THE 3 of the following:

1. Providing technical expertise and guidance in strategy, policy, planning and related technology for all security programs (i.e physical security, information security).
2. Developing and Implementing regulatory and procedural guidance concerning emergency management program requirements.
3. Providing expert consultation to DOE executives, senior management on policy development, procedure interpretation, implementation, and improvement of program planning and management.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
