The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.
Why does the job exist?
Ensure reimbursements and billing are in compliance with federal and state regulations and with respect to the needs of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).How does it get done?
This position analyzes and prepares financial documents for reimbursement for the Child and Adult Care Food Program and Summer Food Service Program. In addition, this position is responsible for monitoring budgets and conducting financial reviews on participating organization sponsors to ensure program compliance. This position will be responsible for providing necessary training and technical assistance to participating sponsor organizations. This position is responsible to reconcile federal reports on a monthly basis.Who are the customers?
The customers include but are not limited to Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Sponsoring Organizations, Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Sponsoring Organizations, USDA stakeholders, Federal and State stakeholders.Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should demonstrate solid experience with budgeting, financial audits, and the analysis of financial reports. They must be able to communicate effectively and offer technical guidance when needed. Strong problem-solving abilities and sound critical-thinking skills are also essential.Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.Supplemental Information
