The Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional to join our team as an Office Technician (Typing). In this role, you will provide division-wide clerical and administrative support that contributes to and helps advance the OEO's work in equity, compliance, and accessibility.

A key part of this role is preparing, reviewing, and editing correspondence, reports, and other documents to ensure they are polished, accurate, and consistent with Department standards. The position also coordinates the routing and tracking of important Department documents, maintains division records, serves as the designated Attendance Clerk, provides backup support for the division’s Web Coordinator, and assists with accessibility-related services such as reasonable accommodations, LEAP, language services, and upward mobility.

IN OFFICE POSITION

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and requires the incumbent to report to the office five days a week. This position is not eligible for telework.

Department Information

The California Department of Education (CDE) oversees the state's diverse and dynamic public school system, which is responsible for the education of more than six million children and young adults in more than 10,000 schools with 295,000 teachers. Special Requirements

You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired.     1. Describe your experience providing clerical and administrative support, including preparing and reviewing documents for accuracy. In your response, highlight your attention to detail, grammar and editing skills, and your ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.


    2. Describe your experience working with customers in a professional setting. In your response, include how you handled customer service, maintained confidentiality, and used tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) to complete your work effectively. Resumes and cover letters will not be considered as substitutes for the SOQ.
