What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strategic Analyst position at DEO Dental Group?
Join the DEO: Strategic Analyst – Profitability & Growth Accelerator
Are you a sharp, process-oriented thinker who loves dissecting businesses, identifying their biggest growth constraints, and turning data (or the lack of it) into clear, actionable strategy?
The DEO (Dentist Entrepreneur Organization) is the fastest-growing dental coaching and business management group in America. We work with the nation’s top dentist-entrepreneurs to transform their practices into scalable, high-performing organizations.
We’re looking for a Strategic Analyst to join our elite team and guide new members, visionary dentist business owners—through the foundational stages of profitability analysis and long-term growth planning. This role blends financial analysis, operational insight, and strategic intuition.
The Opportunity: Architect of Ongoing Success
You won’t just “crunch numbers.” You’ll shape the trajectory of multimillion-dollar dental businesses from Day 1, connecting their story, strategy, and systems into one cohesive plan for growth.
You’ll meet with new members, synthesize incomplete data into clear hypotheses, and codify a working model that identifies their top constraints and path to profitability. Each quarter, you’ll revisit and pressure-test that hypothesis, ensuring our members stay on course.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Onboarding & Profitability Assessment
Conduct a structured discovery with each new dentist-entrepreneur, analyzing their financials, operations, and leadership structure through our proprietary frameworks.
- Instinct-Driven Problem Solving
Combine quantitative analysis with qualitative insight, knowing the right questions to ask, even when the data is incomplete, to surface the most impactful growth constraints.
- Business Blueprint Creation (Deliverable)
Deliver a 3–5 page Business Plan Summary outlining:
The top 3 constraints (leadership, operations, marketing, and finance) holding back profitability.
- A hypothesis for solving them and achieving measurable growth.
- Potential ROI in $ and % tied to those solutions.
- Quarterly Reassessment & Growth Tracking
Revisit member performance quarterly, review new data, and update strategic focus areas to maintain momentum and compounding improvement.
- Coach & Avatar Alignment
Match each member with the ideal DEO coach and avatar type based on analytical findings and personality fit to ensure the best coaching dynamic.
- Internal Feedback & Collaboration
Partner with DEO leadership to refine assessment tools, codify the “Day 1 Answer” process, and provide feedback on coaching effectiveness across your assigned pod.
Who You Are
- Analytical, Not Just Financial. You think in systems, patterns, and hypotheses, not therapy sessions. You’re methodical, curious, and confident asking the hard questions.
- Educational Background. A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Healthcare Administration. MBA or Ivy League/Top-Tier program (Stanford, Wharton, Harvard, etc.) a plus, but not required.
- Professional Experience.
2–3 years in consulting, finance, or strategy (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, Goldman Sachs, PE firm, or high-growth operator role).
- OR equivalent experience in a high-performing dental or healthcare organization (e.g., COO, Operations Director, FP&A).
- C-Suite Exposure. Comfortable presenting findings to executives and distilling complex information into clear, actionable insights.
- Structured but Adaptable. You enjoy the variability of each engagement—but want the rigor of a proven process to drive it.
- Lifestyle-Balanced Performer. You thrive in a performance-driven, high-autonomy environment, without the 100-hour weeks of traditional consulting.
Career Path & Growth
This role offers a defined path toward Senior Strategic Analyst, with added ownership in member retention metrics, pod-level performance insights, and cross-team reporting on coach effectiveness.
Your success will directly influence DEO’s ability to drive measurable impact across our entire member base.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $120K – $150K depending on education and experience
- Performance-Based Compensation: Based on member retention and portfolio success
- Remote: U.S.-based; flexibility across time zones
- Exposure: Work directly with DEO’s senior leadership and top-tier entrepreneurial dentists nationwide
Why the DEO?
The DEO is more than a coaching company, it’s a movement redefining the business of dentistry.
- Impact: Your analysis shapes the growth of multimillion-dollar dental organizations.
- Continuity: You’ll work with the same members quarter over quarter, building long-term relationships and measurable outcomes.
- Culture: Ambitious yet human, a team of thinkers, builders, and doers who love clarity, structure, and growth.
