Overview:

Child Advocates – Denver CASA advocates for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect by training diverse volunteers who create opportunities for children, youth and families to thrive. Denver CASA trains and supervises Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteers who work with children and youth who have been abused and neglected and have a child welfare case open.

Purpose:

The Older Youth Program Manager leads Denver CASA’s efforts to support youth ages 16-21 who are transitioning out of the child welfare system. This role combines program leadership, direct youth support, and volunteer management to ensure young people build meaningful relationships, develop independent living skills, and successfully navigate adulthood. The Manager maintains a caseload of volunteer mentors while strengthening partnerships and expanding program impact.

Job Description:

Program Management:

  • Lead the ongoing management, growth, and sustainability of the program using a trauma-informed approach
  • Provide individualized case management aligned with youth goals (education, employment, housing, life skills)
  • Match youth with mentors and coach relationships toward long-term success
  • Support ongoing engagement through check-ins and goal tracking
  • Provide crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and connect youth to resources
  • Manage a caseload of 20-25 volunteers and deliver training
  • Plan workshops and engagement events

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate program data and documentation
  • Track program budget and reporting
  • Conduct regular check-ins and evaluations
  • Communicate consistently with volunteers and stakeholders

General Organizational Support

  • Collaborate with the Denver CASA team to engage volunteers and youth in outreach activities
  • Represent Denver CASA at community and tabling events to support volunteer recruitment
  • Partner with the development team to support funding applications and grant reporting
  • Assist with fundraising activities as requested
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education each year, as required of all Denver CASA staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 3 years supporting youth; strong communication and organizational skills
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in social work or related field; knowledge of Denver resources; child welfare experience; Spanish proficiency
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in dynamic situations
  • Self-starter with confidence in building and maintaining relationships with both teens and adults
  • Knowledge of juvenile court and child welfare systems preferred
  • Knowledge of youth mentoring, a strengths-based approach, and trauma-informed care preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration, insurance, and reliable transportation required
  • Ability to pass required background and fingerprint checks
  • Ability to work remotely as needed

Salary range: $62,000-$70,000
