Position Summary
Under general direction this position maintains physical facilities at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. This position ensures that the environment is safe, clean and ensures a positive presentation for visitors, staff, and the public. This position will also assist with public events.
Requirements
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs assigned tasks including, but not limited to mowing, trimming, pruning, general fieldwork, irrigation installation, and minor irrigation repairs.
- Operates various tools and equipment to include mowers, trimmers, and blowers in a proficient, safe manner.
- Maintains working knowledge of maintenance, methods, materials, and equipment, as well as safety regulations and precautions related to work performed.
- Performs assigned chores to include, but are not limited to feed animals, collect eggs and clean their stalls, barn, and coop, collect trash and monitor the public restroom.
- Assists in grounds keeping including set up and tear down of equipment for special events.
- Participates in snow removal duties if needed.
- Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with managers, co-workers, and others. Maintains a positive, helpful, and solution-oriented demeanor when responding to or serving members, visitors, or others.
- Attend all meetings “on-site” as required.
- Regular attendance at the worksite may be required. As with all positions at Denver Botanic Gardens, the incumbent must be in good performance standing to be eligible for remote work. Remote work is at the discretion of management at all times.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to read and understand toxin labels.
- Knowledge of irrigation install and maintenance.
- Knowledge mowing and trimming, as well as landscape projects.
- Knowledge of farm work.
- Must have knowledge of machinery (mowers, trimmers, rototillers, hand tools, and small engines).
- Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
- Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
- Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans, when necessary, throughout the day.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Some knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Must be a positive representative of the Gardens both internally and externally at all times.
- Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.
- Must be committed to working safely at all times.
Experience/Education:
- High school diploma / GED and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in a similar garden/facilities maintenance environment.
