Description
We are looking for a compassionate and team-orientated Advocate to join our Legal Advocacy team, providing legal advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning and information/referrals to victims of relationship violence and sexual assault. The ideal candidate would have excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills and a drive to help others.
Reports to: Advocacy Coordinator
Supervises: Assigned Interns and Volunteers
Primary Functions
- Assess client needs and connect each client to resources and agency programs
- Prepare and maintain a service plan with each client
- Provide legal advocacy and accompaniment
- Collaborate and act as a liaison with various other organizations and agencies (CPS, Law Enforcement, DA, etc.) to meet the needs of clients
- Assist clients in filing emergency and final protective orders and restraining orders
- Collaborate with local attorneys to provide pro bono legal representation
- Assist clients with crime victims’ compensation claims
- Maintain client files and records with confidentiality with accurate and complete documentation
- Collect and report statistical data reflecting the services provided in a timely manner
- Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested.

Requirements
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated understanding of relationship violence and sexual assault issues
Preferences
- Excellent oral and written Spanish highly preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Ability to easily climb stairs
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
Salary : $50,000 - $52,500
