A Denny’s line cook prepares and plates menu items according to exact brand recipes, timing rules, and food safety standards. Responsibilities include cooking meals to order, managing special guest requests, keeping the kitchen clean and stocked, monitoring food waste, and helping team members during busy shifts.
- Food Preparation: Cook and plate Denny's menu items following standard recipes, proper food temperatures, and portion rules.
- Order Management: Handle special guest requests with care and correctly call out orders on the kitchen line.
- Sanitation & Safety: Keep the work area, fry lines, and storage units clean, sanitized, and organized. Adhere strictly to local health and food safety regulations.
- Inventory & Waste Control: Monitor food waste, stock station supplies, and report low stock or equipment issues to management.
- Teamwork: Assist other kitchen and service staff willingly during peak business hours.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Age & Hygiene: Must be at least 18 years old and maintain proper grooming and hygiene habits.
- Physical Ability: Stand and walk for 4 to 8-hour shifts, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must tolerate temperature changes near grills, ovens, and freezers.
- Experience: Many franchise locations require minimal or no prior restaurant experience, though 1 to 2 years of cooking experience in a family-style restaurant is preferred.
- Skills: Basic math skills, ability to read order tickets and recipes, and good communication skills.
