What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Tech for a Water Service Utility position at Dennis Water District?
This position at the Dennis Water District performs a variety of unskilled or semi‑skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of water mains, hydrants and domestic water service lines. Performs all aspects involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling. Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans and flushes water mains, pipes, gates and fittings on repair of mains and services and installation of services, and fire hydrants; assists in shutting off broken sections of water mains.
Installs and removes seasonal water meters, replaces ancient water meters and reads water meters as needed.
Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
Drives trucks and equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment. Performs routine inspection, preventive maintenance and cleans District trucks and equipment.
Position requires working outside year round in all weather. Position also requires lifting heavy loads of 100lbs, walking, crawling and working in loud environments.
