What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Vice President for Institutional Advancement position at Denmark Technical College (SC)?
The VP for Institutional Advancement provides strategic leadership in securing substantial philanthropic support to advance the College's mission and priorities. Manages a portfolio of donors, plays a critical role in campaign strategy, major gift cultivation, and cross-campus collaboration. Works closely with executive leadership, serves as a key liaison to the Foundation, and is a member of the Executive Cabinet. Responsible for advancing fundraising, expanding donor engagement, and fostering a culture of philanthropy across the College. Oversee the College's grant programs and staff.
Manages and expands a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, with emphasis on securing philanthropic investments aligned with institutional priorities and campaign objectives. Develops and implements comprehensive fundraising strategies, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate, and foundation donors. Provides oversight to the grant programs and process.
Collaborates closely with senior leadership, deans, and faculty to define funding priorities and develop compelling cases for support, contributing significantly to capital campaigns and special initiatives from strategy development through execution.
Provides leadership to direct reports by overseeing daily operations, establishing performance goals and expectations, and fostering effective collaboration to achieve shared objectives.
Designs and executes advanced donor engagement strategies, including individualized cultivation plans and high-level engagement events, while overseeing the preparation of complex proposals, major gift agreements, and stewardship reports.
Analyzes fundraising data and trends to inform pipeline development and drive continuous performance improvement, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of interactions, commitments, and portfolio activity.
Master’s degree plus five (5) years of progressively responsible related work experience.
Must demonstrate ability to generate philanthropic giving and enhance alumni engagement. Must have the ability to develop and sustain positive relationships within the community. Must utilize innovative strategies. Must have strong ethical standards and integrity. Must identify, cultivate, and steward donor relationships. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are required. Must work collaboratively with internal and external constituents. Valid driver's license required. Requires flexible hours, occasional travel within service area, ability to represent the College. Travel may be overnight for training, workshops, and seminars. Must be able to move up to 25 pounds.
