What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Instructor position at Denmark Technical College (SC)?
The instructor must demonstrate knowledge of subject matter being taught and hold valid teaching credentials as defined by State Tech, College Policy, SACSCOC and the South Carolina Board of Nursing - LLR criteria. The instructor will teach assigned courses and provide clinical instruction; will review, evaluate and revise course objectives; and will serve as an academic advisor. Additionally, the instructor will work with the Dean to maintain accreditation guidelines and program quality and be able to motivate students and construct effective test instruments that are measurable and congruent to established instructional criteria.
Performs duties of an instructor in classroom and/or laboratory as assigned by workload.
Maintain appropriate hours and be responsible for advising and supporting students.
Prepare instructional materials, tests, handouts, and media materials in support of classes assigned to prepare students to successfully pass the NCLEX examination.
Serve on college committees and special task forces as assigned.
Participate in, support, and enhance college activities, community services and other areas.
Maintain professional expertise in area by professional development via seminars or workshops, reading literature in the related field, and/or college level coursework.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Master of Nursing degree and previous teaching experience is preferred. Must hold a unencumbered, active license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or another compact state. Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered or advanced practice nurse.
Must demonstrate willingness to work cooperatively with others and independently, along with the ability to learn and adapt to new ideas/technique in support of instructional responsibilities, the mission and goals of the institution. Will be required to travel to and supervise students at clinical sites. Faculty of the South Carolina Technical College System are employed as 9-month (fall and spring semesters) employees. An additional 3 months (summer) is optional to the faculty and to the College, based on student enrollment and other management decisions.
