What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Technical Assistant position at Denmark Technical College (SC)?
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Library Services, the Library Technical Assistant serves as a member of the library to provide circulation and reference services to the campus community. Additional, the Library Technical Assistant works with other staff to create positive library environment and a learning culture.
Provides circulation and minimal reference services to all users: assisting users with using the library Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and computers: getting an account, logging in, navigation the Internet and using the Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Assists students with log in assistance for D2L, Office 365/email and Cengage.
Performs daily opening/closing duties and monitors the safety and security of library users, library property ,and facility.
Assists with collection maintenance: weeding books.
Demonstrates technical knowledge of using phones, computers, and other library-related equipment.
High School Diploma and experience in library or clerical work. Valid driver's license required. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential. Knowledge of electronic databases, computer work processing applications and Internet search methods is a plus. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, completeness, and thoroughness in work. Must demonstrate positive customer service skills: courteous, sensitive, tactful, with rapport and discretion.
