Full-Time Barista (Denim Coffee at Dickinson College)

Denim Coffee Company is a Specialty Coffee Roaster with coffee shops in Carlisle, Mechanicsburg, Chambersburg, Harrisburg, and Lancaster.

NOW HIRING FOR A BARISTA AT DICKINSON COLLEGE - We are currently hiring for our new location at the Quarry on the Dickinson College campus (51 N College Ave, Carlisle, PA 17013). You do not need to be a student to apply.

We are looking for a Full-Time Barista with Saturday and Sunday availability, as well as varying days throughout the week as needed.

*Hours may be reduced and/or unguarunteed over breaks

*Additional coverage shifts may be picked up as available for additional hours

Pay is $12.10/hr plus tips, which typically results in average wages of $13 to $15 per hour with tips factored in.

Barista Duties:

Provide exceptional customer service as a Barista in our café. Honor customers through hospitality and provide a memorable coffee experience.

Essential Functions

• Greet all customers with a friendly smile.
• Provide friendly, efficient and personal service to each customer.
• Create a rapport with customers by learning their names and favorite drinks.
• Educate customers on all of our products.
• Maintain high quality and consistent product standards.
• Strive for the highest level of customer satisfaction.
• Accurately process transactions in the POS system.
• Cup and taste coffee regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standards.
• Stay informed of new coffee availability and attributes.
• Communicate with team members and management to solve problems and improve service.
• Support a positive work environment.
• Prepare baked goods, foods, smoothies and other drinks with quality.
• Maintain a clean workstation and atmosphere.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee
• Customer service that is executed in a personal and professional manner
• Understanding of coffee shops and specialty retail
• Desire to educate others about our coffee and espresso methods
• Strong attention to detail and healthy respect for cleanliness and sanitation
• Excitement about the task of ensuring that each customer has a quality experience in our café
• Open to criticism and constantly striving to improve
• Ability to multi-task with ease

Physical Demands

• Stand and walk – must be able to stand for shifts and move about the café including up/down stairs to retrieve inventory from basement
• Use of hands – operate espresso machinery
• Taste/Smell – ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee
• Talk/hear – frequently communicate with customers

Work environment

• Work is performed at the cafe
• The work environment can be noisy
