The salary range is from Step 1 at $19.79 to Step 5 at $22.27, which is the maximum step for initial placement of an external candidate. Each step represents one year of experience in a related role. The full range extends up to Step 10 at $25.86.
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Fiscal Services, performs a variety of accounting duties, maintains daily substitute roster and maintains District employee attendance records, maintains the district fixed asset inventory; assists with the development of budget information related to negotiations.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Maintains regular access to confidential information that is used to contribute significantly to negotiations Arranges for and monitors substitutes district wide for both classified and certificated staff members; manages and maintains a current list of available substitutes Maintains District personnel absence records Calculates and maintains the District use tax reporting to the state of California Maintains the District fixed asset inventory; assists in the liquidation and/or sale of District surplus property Maintains Records Retention for District office Maintains the District Developer fees and reports; issues certificates of payments related to Developer fees. Assists with current and accurate District accounts payable system in accordance with District, County Office and Governmental Policy, including but not limited to preparing and performing accounts payable check runs and running current District accounts payable as required Assists with the external audit process Assists with employee paycheck distribution Maintains the District Petty Cash fund Assists with the maintenance and monitoring of district-wide accounting records Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Telephone techniques and etiquette Modern office practices, procedures and equipment; operation of common office and computer equipment and related software including but not limited to word processing and spreadsheet platforms/programs Correct business English, vocabulary, grammar and usage, spelling and punctuation Record-keeping techniques and time management skills Preparation, review and control of assigned accounts Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned accounting duties, including District policies and procedures as they apply Data processing systems and software applicable to assigned accounting duties Accounting and auditing principles, practices and procedures; technical aspects related to assigned accounting duties District organization, operations, policies and objectives Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy Oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent of High School Diploma Two years college-level course work in accounting or other formal business training Work experience in business, accounting, or educational setting preferred.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License Must be bondable First aid and CPR training recommended Required District staff development in-service training.
