What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Instructor (SAI) JROTC Program position at Demopolis High School?
Reports to: Principal/CTE Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goal: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible members of society.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Must be military classification of E8-E9 or higher
- Must have at minimum a bachelor’s degree
- Must provide prequalification letter from Headquarters stating they are eligible for JROTC employment.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility as the unit Senior Instructor.
- Instruct cadets in the JROTC curriculum during the school year.
- Attends Army JROTC summer camp with cadets from his/her school when directed by the DAI.
- Conducts public affairs programs in local areas, among school and community officials, civic groups, parent-teacher groups and other individuals designed to enhance the prestige of the Army JROTC and thereby the school institution and the US Army.
- The SAI, in coordination with the head of the institution, will draft procedures relating to the administration, control, and training of JROTC cadets, including appointment, promotion, and demotion of cadet officers and non-commissioned officers for approval by the head of the institution in accordance with Army Regulations 145-2.
- Establishes “extra-curricular” activities consisting of marksmanship, drill, athletics, and social events to enhance the program.
- Demonstrates qualities of patience, understanding, trustworthiness, and attention to work.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of the subject matter.
- Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress and records results.
- Issues reports to inform parents of student progress.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student progress and problems.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administrators.
Physical requirements:
Employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Terms of employment:
Twelve-month employee, in accordance with the Board approved salary schedule. Work schedule includes a 40-hour work week, with scheduled days and times up to the supervisor.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Demopolis City Board of Education policy on evaluation of personnel.
