About the Position
Estherville Lincoln Central (ELC) Community School District is seeking a collaborative and student-centered leader to serve as Elementary Assistant Principal (PK–4) at Demoney Elementary. This position will support the principal in leading a positive, student-focused environment centered on strong instruction, aligned systems, and continuous improvement.
The Assistant Principal will play a key role in supporting student behavior, staff development, and system alignment, working closely with staff and district leadership to advance priorities in PLC practices, MTSS, and literacy (CLSD).
This position will work closely with the Principal, School Counselor, and Student Success Coordinator as a unified team to support students, staff, and building systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of high-quality Tier 1 instruction across grade levels
- Assist in facilitating and supporting Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Use student data (academic, behavior, attendance) to support decision-making and interventions
- Support development and implementation of MTSS systems (academic and behavior)
- Lead and support student behavior systems and interventions
- Assist in supervision and evaluation of staff, maintaining clear expectations and accountability
- Support staff through coaching, collaboration, and problem-solving
- Assist with daily building operations and school procedures
- Ensure compliance with district policies and state and federal requirements
- Communicate effectively and consistently with students, staff, and families
- Collaborate with:
- Principal
- School Counselor and Student Success Coordinator
- Instructional Coaches
- District and Building DLT teams
- Special Education and student support staff
- Support alignment of building practices with district goals and initiatives
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of instructional practices and student support systems
- Build strong relationships while maintaining clear expectations and accountability
- Support and lead within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS)
- Use data to inform decisions and improve student outcomes

Qualifications
- Valid Iowa Administrator License (or ability to obtain)
- Completion of Iowa Evaluator Approval Training (or ability to obtain)
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field preferred
- Experience in elementary education preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of:
- Effective instructional practices and Tier 1 systems
- Student behavior systems and supports
- Data-informed decision-making and problem-solving
- Experience supporting or leading within:
- Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) (academic and behavior)
- Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining clear expectations and accountability
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with district goals and initiatives
