Job Title: Residential Plumbing Estimator – Production/Tract Homes
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Residential Plumbing Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for accurately estimating costs for residential construction projects (single-family and production/tract homes) from inception to completion. The Estimator will lead the estimating process, manage vendor and subcontractor negotiations, and oversee the work of project estimators.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine scope of work.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Solicit and negotiate bids from subcontractors and vendors, ensuring competitive pricing.
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate bid packages.
- Attend pre-bid walkthroughs and meetings, providing value engineering recommendations.
- Maintain and build relationships with clients, contractors, and vendors to promote future opportunities.
- Support project execution, including managing change orders and addressing technical issues.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives for greater estimating efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee project estimators and provide guidance where needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of residential, production, and tract home plumbing systems, installation techniques, and industry standards.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite; Procore experience preferred.
- Skilled in scope definition, bid leveling, unit pricing, and overall bid assembly/submittal.
- Excellent negotiation, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic with both independent and team-working capabilities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of residential estimating experience in single-family and production/tract homes.
- Strong knowledge of construction principles, practices, methods, and materials.
- Experience working with national builders preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.
Work Environment
- Office-based with site visits required at strategic project intervals.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Travel required for client meetings as needed.
- Ability to walk and navigate active job sites, with occasional exposure to loud noise.
- PPE required on job sites.
