Overview
We are seeking a skilled Document Accessibility Remediation Specialist to support efforts in ensuring digital content complies with required accessibility standards. This role focuses on reviewing, correcting, and enhancing a wide variety of documents—including PDFs, Word files, PowerPoint presentations, and other digital formats—to meet WCAG, Section 508, ADA, and related accessibility guidelines. The ideal professional is detail-oriented, technically strong, and committed to creating inclusive and compliant digital content. You will collaborate with internal teams, provide documentation improvements, perform quality checks, and ensure that all final deliverables are accurate, accessible, and user-friendly for individuals using assistive technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Remediate digital documents (PDF, Word, PPT, Excel) to meet accessibility standards.
- Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, ADA, and other applicable guidelines.
- Conduct quality checks to verify tag structure, reading order, alt text, and navigation.
- Utilize tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, CommonLook, and assistive technology testing.
- Collaborate with internal teams to clarify requirements and ensure accurate deliverables.
- Maintain documentation of remediation activities and follow established best practices.
- Identify accessibility issues and recommend improvements for content creators.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in document accessibility remediation.
- Strong knowledge of WCAG, PDF/UA, Section 508 compliance, and assistive technologies.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro and accessibility testing tools.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a hybrid work environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $58.60 - $65.21 per hour
