Job Title: High School Agriscience Teacher
Reports to: High School Principal

The Agriscience Teacher provides engaging, hands-on instruction in agricultural education while preparing students for careers and post-secondary opportunities in agriculture, natural resources, animal science, plant science, agribusiness, and related industries. The teacher creates a positive learning environment that integrates classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, leadership development through FFA, and supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs).
Duties:
- Build a comfortable routine within each of your regularly scheduled high school classes
- Create an engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning, encourages student interest, and maintains standards of behavior
- Tailor a program of study to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of your students using District-approved curriculum
- Integrate modern technology into lesson design through Google Classroom and a one-to-one student technology ratio
- Demonstrate higher-order thinking skills by embedding instruction with high-level depth-of-knowledge questioning techniques
- Guide learning by establishing objectives for lessons, units, and projects, maintain records of progress and adjust instruction accordingly to maximize student learning •
- Collaborate with colleagues in focused learning teams, coordinate with fellow subject-area teachers, and communicate with students and parents to further education-related goals
- This position is teaching Ag Bio, Bio, Wildlife and Natural Resources and one MS Ag/FFA class
Requirements:
- A Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and Natural Resources or a related field.
- Michigan Secondary teaching certificate with an occupational (vocational) endorsement.
- HX- Agriscience and Natural Resources
- VA- Vocational Agriculture (Agriscience and Natural Resources)
- Will consider certification in
- Biology (DA), Physics (DE) or Chemistry
