What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journeyman Electrician – Industrial position at Delta Wye Electric?
Journeyman Electrician – Industrial
Delta Wye Electric | Tempe, AZ
Full-Time | Competitive Pay Full Benefits | Stable, Long-Term Work
If You've Got Your Card and You Can Run a Phase, We Want You
Delta Wye Electric is looking for a licensed Journeyman Electrician who can take a section of a project and own it — read the prints, bend the pipe, pull the wire, and hand back work that passes inspection the first time. You're not just another set of hands. You lead the electricians working next to you, you set the pace, and you're the person the Foreman trusts to get a phase done right without hovering.
Who We Are
Delta Wye Electric has been in business since 1980. We're a family-owned, merit shop industrial electrical contractor with over 100 employees across Arizona and California. Our clients are Fortune 500 manufacturers and industrial facilities — real projects with real scope, not punch-list work. We're licensed in 20 states and growing, which means more opportunity for the right people.
A lot of our work is long-term relationships with existing clients — returning to facilities we know for upgrades, expansions, and new equipment. That means steady work, not chasing the next bid every few weeks.
What You'll Do
- Own your phase. Take a part of a project — or the whole thing — assigned by the Foreman and run it independently. Read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings, and build to spec.
- Do the skilled work. Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment — wiring, circuits, switches, outlets, lighting, and control systems. Advanced conduit bending and wiring, working at heights up to 85 feet.
- Lead the crew on your work. Direct the electricians on your phase, set the standard, and keep the work moving safely and on budget.
- Own quality. Make sure everything meets NEC, local codes, OSHA, and project specs. Inspect completed installs, catch deficiencies, and fix them before an inspector ever sees them.
- Develop the next guys. Help train Electrician 1–4 teammates and give the Field Development Manager real feedback on how they’re coming along.
- Be a face on site. Serve as a secondary point of contact with the customer, and turn in accurate job sheets with your hours every week.
What We're Looking For
- Active state Journeyman card (California DIR, or the equivalent certification test in states that don’t issue a card).
- Completed a recognized apprenticeship.
- Real industrial electrical experience — not just residential or light commercial.
- Advanced proficiency in conduit bending, wiring, and terminations, and strong working knowledge of NEC code.
- Comfortable reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical specs, and executing to them with little to no supervision.
- OSHA 10, MEWP, forklift, and CPR/First Aid certifications.
- Full journeyman personal tools.
- Reliable, insured vehicle.
- Willing to travel — most work is in the Phoenix metro, but some projects require out-of-town or out-of-state travel.
- Physically capable of the work — ladders, lifts up to 85 feet, trenching, carrying 50 lbs, working in Arizona heat and weather.
What You Get
- Competitive pay — based on your experience and what you bring to the table
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off
- Tuition reimbursement and professional development
- Referral bonus program
- A company that's been around for 45 years and isn't going anywhere
- A clear path to advance — we promote from within, and Journeyman is a proven step toward Foreman here
Why Delta Wye
We're not a body shop. We don't treat our electricians like interchangeable parts. You'll work on meaningful industrial projects for clients who know your name, with a team that has your back, for a company that's been doing this longer than most competitors have existed.
