The Senior Network Engineer operates with a high level of independence and is responsible for delivering advanced local and remote network administration support across corporate and manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, wireless, and SD-WAN environments through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Provide expert-level support for enterprise networks, including routing, switching, and network security infrastructure.
- Configure, implement, and maintain core network components such as routers, switches, firewalls, WAN connections, and SD-WAN edge devices.
- Manage and support dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and oversee network segmentation using VLANs, ACLs, and standardized IP addressing schemes.
- Design, implement, and optimize LAN/WAN solutions, including evaluating and recommending networking hardware, software updates, and architectural improvements.
- Conduct technical analysis of network systems using tools such as packet capture utilities, SNMP monitoring, and performance baselining.
- Monitor network traffic, bandwidth usage, and system performance to maintain high availability and efficient data transmission.
- Identify and resolve infrastructure issues related to hardware failures, misconfigurations, and performance bottlenecks.
- Configure and support wireless network environments, including access points, controllers, RF tuning, and secure authentication mechanisms.
- Support Cisco-based network environments, including configuration, topology design, and troubleshooting of enterprise services.
- Plan and execute network infrastructure and security upgrades while minimizing system downtime and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards.
- Maintain secure network operations through enforcement of policies, patch management, and adherence to industry best practices.
- Lead the deployment and support of IoT network solutions across multiple business units, ensuring scalability and secure connectivity.
- Administer Active Directory, including user accounts, permissions, and authentication processes to support secure access control.
- Research and recommend improvements to network and server infrastructure, including upgrades, optimization, and lifecycle management.
- Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, standards, and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network performance, reliability, and security.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support overall IT infrastructure and operational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- CCNA certification preferred.
- 4–8 years of hands-on networking experience required.
- Strong expertise in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting routers, switches, and system connectivity.
- In-depth understanding of routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), VLAN segmentation, wireless networking, and SD-WAN technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex network issues and maintain secure, highly available enterprise environments.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
