Position Summary
The Internet Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity, security, and functionality of the school’s internet systems and online network infrastructure. This position ensures reliable connectivity to support instructional technology, administrative operations, and compliance with state and federal requirements. The Internet Specialist collaborates with educational staff, IT vendors, and leadership to manage internet-based instructional platforms and digital compliance systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintain and monitor the school’s internet network, ensuring consistent and secure connectivity for all users.
· Troubleshoot and resolve network and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
· Manage and configure firewalls, routers, and switches to optimize performance and security.
· Implement and monitor web content filters and cybersecurity protocols aligned with CIPA and FERPA requirements.
· Support online learning platforms, digital curricula, and student information systems such as PowerSchool and Google Workspace for Education.
· Coordinate with external service providers and technology vendors for updates, maintenance, and repairs.
· Monitor bandwidth usage and recommend upgrades or adjustments as needed.
· Ensure compliance with data privacy and accessibility regulations.
· Assist with maintaining the school’s website and online communication systems.
· Provide technical support to staff and students on internet-related issues.
· Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, credentials, and service records.
· Support the Director of Digital Academic Technology & Compliance with technology planning and policy implementation.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
· High School diploma,Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
· Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in network administration, internet systems management, or related IT support role.
· Experience in a K–12 educational setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong understanding of internet protocols, networking systems, and cybersecurity standards.
· Proficiency in configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
· Knowledge of cloud-based education systems and online learning management tools.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
· Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
· Familiarity with accessibility standards (ADA compliance) and online safety requirements.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., network equipment).
· Frequent walking, bending, and use of hands for hardware setup.
· Visual acuity to perform technical troubleshooting and system monitoring.
Work Environment
Professional school environment with frequent interaction with teachers, administrators, and students. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for system updates or emergencies.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Digital Academic Technology & Compliance in accordance with Delta School’s evaluation procedures and professional standards.

Projected Total Compensation: $24.58 - $29.61 per hour
