Delta Health is seeking an experienced Hospital Operations Director to oversee and optimize daily hospital operations across the organization. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality operational performance while aligning departmental activities with strategic and clinical goals. The Director partners closely with clinical and administrative leaders to enhance patient flow, service delivery, and overall hospital performance.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Direct daily operations for assigned hospital departments, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Monitor and improve systems impacting patient access, throughput, and overall patient experience.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and lead cross-functional initiatives to improve workflow efficiency.
- Lead hospital-wide strategies supporting ED flow, inpatient bed availability, diagnostic turnaround times, and patient movement.
- Oversee processes related to patient discharge efficiency and care transitions.
- Ensure departments maintain continuous readiness for regulatory surveys, audits, and inspections.
Performance Improvement & Data-Driven Management
- Utilize data, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor operational performance.
- Conduct root-cause analyses and lead performance-improvement initiatives with measurable outcomes.
- Ensure departments meet productivity targets and operational benchmarks.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to drive sustainable improvements.
Financial & Resource Management
- Manage operating budgets for assigned departments in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with department directors on staffing models, productivity standards, equipment needs, and supply utilization.
- Support capital planning, operational forecasting, and resource allocation.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and accrediting body regulations.
- Maintain and support operational policies and procedures that promote safe patient care.
- Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to address issues and sustain continuous readiness.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and open communication.
- Coach, mentor, and develop managers and supervisors to strengthen leadership capabilities.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
- Participate in committees, operational huddles, and leadership meetings.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, productivity, and departmental performance.
- Strong operational problem-solving and workflow improvement skills.
- Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to lead change and manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of hospital operations, service-line support, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), MBA, or related field.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other performance-improvement methodologies.
