What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Delta Dental of Rhode Island?
POSITION SUMMARY: Strong accounting expertise with the ability to support complex accounting matters, complemented by proficiency in financial systems and advanced spreadsheet tools.
Essential Duties: (including but not limited to)
- Provide support (approximately 20% of time) for the internal audit department
- Assist with the preparation of annual and quarterly regulatory filings
- Take ownership of balance sheet accounts, with a focus on more complex areas and enhancing reconciliation processes
- Cross-training and support of the following areas; monthly close activities, investment accounting, employee benefits reconciliations and taxes
- Play a leading role in the company’s future ERP implementation
- Support FP&A initiatives and enhanced financial analysis
- Review, enhance and document internal controls and related processes
- Finance team resource for internal projects and strategic initiatives.
- Develop finance/accounting related processes for new lines of business
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 3-5 years experience. CPA preferred.
- Proficiency in Accounting software with the ability to thoroughly learn internal systems.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a passion for continuous learning and process improvement
- Thrives on working as part of a team to develop and implement project plans.
