Senior Accountant

Our client, a growing manufacturing/distribution organization in the Providence area, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will be responsible for the month-end close process, inventory accounting, cost accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate will have strong inventory and manufacturing accounting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with operations and supply chain teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Manage inventory accounting, including inventory valuations, reserves, and reconciliations.
• Perform cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and cost rollups.
• Analyze inventory transactions and ensure accurate reporting of inventory balances.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory controls and reporting.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and management reporting.
• Support annual audits and provide required documentation to external auditors.
• Identify process improvements and assist with implementation of accounting best practices.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong experience with month-end close, inventory accounting, and/or cost accounting.
• Manufacturing, distribution, or product-based industry experience preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
