Staff Accountant | Family Office Environment
Location: Dallas, TX - 100% onsite
Role Overview
This position supports a family office that owns and manages entities across a broad range of industries, including restaurants, commercial & rental properties, hotels and investments. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly closing processes, and ensuring reliable reporting across multiple legal entities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working in a multi-entity, high‑discretion environment that differs from a traditional corporate accounting structure.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Close Support
- Maintain general ledger accounting for multiple entities, including operating companies, investments, and related ownership structures.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Perform balance sheet and income statement reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain supporting documentation for financial records in accordance with family office guidelines.
Financial Reporting Support
- Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
- Support variance analysis and basic financial reporting for management.
- Compile schedules and workpapers for audits, tax filings, and external accountants.
- Help maintain consistency in reporting across multiple entities and asset classes.
Multi-Entity & Intercompany Accounting
- Assist with accounting for a diversified group of entities across various industries.
- Track and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Support equity activity, capital contributions, and distributions.
- Assist with cash flow tracking and entity-level reporting.
Accounts Payable, Receivable & Cash Management
- Review and/or process accounts payable and ensure accuracy and proper approval.
- Assist with accounts receivable tracking and collections.
- Reconcile bank and point of sale credit card accounts.
- Support cash management and balance tracking across multiple entities.
Collaboration & Process Support
- Work closely with Family & Controller to support ongoing accounting operations.
- Assist with process improvements, documentation, and software enhancements & upgrades.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and family information.
- Provide ad hoc accounting and reporting support as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 years of accounting experience; experience in private companies, family offices, professional services, or multi-entity environments preferred
- Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and basic financial reporting
- Experience working with multiple legal entities and intercompany activity is a plus
- CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA is a plus but not required
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience in QuickBooks Enterprise or another ERP system required

Salary : $85,000 - $90,000
